We are the ACE Development Team based in Wigan, we provide Alternative and Complementary education packages for young people who cannot access mainstream education. The team is a team of qualified social workers and youth support co-ordinators with many years experience of working with young people and families. The team offers a specialist social work support service to schools, pupil referral units and young people and their families who are experiencing difficulties relating to disaffection from school.

As an element to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award we have been accessing Thai-Boxing lessons from Dwany’s, Pete has worked with us so far with three separate groups of young people, and we have found that there has been a dramatic affect upon the young people that have accessed his courses, resulting in improved behaviour and attitude, increased attendance and a overall increase in health, fitness and motivation levels.
The young people are feeling a real sense of achievement and are gaining in so many ways from the programmes that Pete provides, and his accreditation system allows young people at different levels to participate and achieve qualifications. We have two young women on one of Pete's programmes who are now working towards an Assistant Instructors Award.
